The annual gathering at Devendorf Park features patriotic live music, community picnic atmosphere, lawn seating under the trees, and family-friendly activities all with easy walking access to Carmel's restaurants, boutiques, and white-sand beaches. Monterey's Big 4th of July Celebration
The festivities begin early in Downtown Monterey with one of the Central Coast's longest-running Independence Day traditions.
7:30 AM – 10:30 AM |- Pancake Breakfast
Come enjoy the annual Monterey Firefighter’s Charity Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station on Pacific Street. Breakfast includes coffee, warm, fluffy pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit and all the fixings. Proceeds will benefit Monterey County Youth Museum. There will be activities for the kids, music, and an opportunity to interact with your local firefighters.

After the parade, head over to the Big 4th of July Celebration & Backyard Food Fest featuring a live music throughout the afternoon, plenty of local food vendors, family activities and lawn games on the historic Colton Hall setting.

Step Back in Time at Monterey State Historic Park

Spend the Day at Old Fisherman's Wharf

Just a short walk from downtown festivities, Old Fisherman's Wharf is decorated in patriotic red, white, and blue for the holiday. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment (typically from 2:00–5:00 PM), fresh seafood, tour local shops, candy stores and stroll along the wharf to take advantage of some great photo opportunities and be entertained by some local sea lions lounging nearby. One of the best parts? You can enjoy the festive atmosphere while watching boats come and go across Monterey Bay.
Pacific Grove's 250th Independence Day Celebration

Pacific Grove always embraces community traditions, and this year's celebration includes some unique experiences many visitors don't know about.
Highlights include a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, patriotic choir performances and live music, face painting and other kid activities, community BBQ and local beer garden. It's one of the Peninsula's most authentic hometown celebrations.
