The Pure Insurance Championship Returns to Pebble Beach

There are few places in the world where professional golf and the beauty of the California coast come together quite like Pebble Beach. This week, that setting becomes the backdrop for one of the Monterey Peninsula’s most meaningful annual sporting events - the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee.

Returning to Pebble Beach September 18–20, 2026, the PGA Tour Champions event brings together golf legends, talented junior players and amateur competitors for three days of competition on two iconic Monterey Peninsula courses. But the tournament is about much more than the final score, it is also about mentorship, opportunity and introducing the next generation of golfers to the game at one of its most legendary venues.

When Is the PURE Insurance Championship?

The tournament takes place Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Pebble Beach Golf Links & Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

Tournament Schedule

Tuesday, September 15: Practice rounds at Spyglass Hill after 12:00 p.m.; The Hay beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Wednesday, September 16: Practice rounds at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

Thursday, September 17: Final practice rounds at both courses.

Friday, September 18: First round at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill.

Saturday, September 19: Second round at both courses.

Sunday, September 20: Final round at Pebble Beach Golf Links, followed by the awards ceremony at the 18th green, Tournament should finish around 6:00 p.m.

For those watching from home, the Golf Channel will provide live coverage Friday through Sunday from 3:00–6:00 p.m., with streaming available through GolfChannel.com. 

You Don't Need a Ticket to Watch

One of the best things about the PURE Insurance Championship for locals and visitors is that spectators do not need a ticket to attend the tournament rounds at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Fans can walk the course and watch PGA TOUR Champions professionals compete alongside First Tee juniors. Complimentary spectator parking is available at the Special Events Field/Lot 10, with shuttle service to the course. Spyglass Hill is closed to spectators, so if you're hoping to watch in person, Pebble Beach Golf Links is the place to be. For families, the tournament's Family Fun Zone at the 17th green returns this year, with lawn and golf games and hands-on activities created in partnership with First Tee–Monterey County and the Monterey County Youth Museum.

What Makes This Tournament Different?

The PURE Insurance Championship isn't your typical PGA Tour Champions event. The field includes 80 PGA Tour Champions professionals, 80 First Tee juniors and 160 amateurs. The professionals are paired with junior golfers, creating an unusual combination of high-level competition and mentorship. For the young golfers, playing alongside a professional at Pebble Beach is an experience that can stay with them long after the tournament ends. The event is part competition, part mentorship opportunity and part celebration of what golf can teach beyond the course - confidence, resilience, discipline and perseverance. A Pebble Beach Tradition Since 2004

While the PURE Insurance name is relatively recent, the tournament itself has been part of the Pebble Beach calendar since 2004. The event has brought some of the country's top young golfers to Pebble Beach for more than two decades, giving First Tee participants the opportunity to compete on one of the world's most recognizable golf stages. The 2026 tournament marks the 23rd year of the event and, also celebrates PURE Insurance's 10th year as title sponsor.

Some Impressive Names Have Won Here

The tournament's history includes an impressive list of PGA TOUR Champions winners. Doug Barron enters this year's event as the defending champion after winning in 2025 with a 12-under-par 204. His victory came down to a dramatic finish at Pebble Beach, where he closed with three consecutive birdies to edge Vijay Singh by one stroke. Other past champions include Bernhard Langer, K.J. Choi, Jim Furyk, Kirk Triplett, Paul Broadhurst, Steve Flesch and Thongchai Jaidee, and Bernhard Langer's 17-under-par 198 in 2017 remains the tournament's lowest 54-hole score.

Two Iconic Courses. One Tournament.

The tournament is played across two of the Monterey Peninsula's most famous courses - Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Pebble Beach Golf Links has been challenging golfers against the backdrop of Carmel Bay since 1919 and has hosted some of golf's most important championships. Spyglass Hill provides a dramatically different test. Known for its demanding layout, it is consistently regarded as one of the toughest courses in the world from the championship tees. Together, the two courses make for a uniquely Monterey Peninsula tournament experience with forest, coastline and ocean views, and challenging golf all within the same event.

It's About More Than Golf

The impact of tournament week extends well beyond the fairways of Pebble Beach. Perhaps the most meaningful part of the PURE Insurance Championship is what happens away from the leaderboard. The tournament helps support First Tee, a national youth development organization that uses golf to help young people develop confidence, resilience and life skills. The Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which stages the PURE Insurance Championship along with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, also directs community investment from its tournaments toward hundreds of nonprofits throughout California's Central Coast.
