The Monterey Peninsula is filled with fun winter happenings this week as we prepare for the holidays. The Mayor and City Councilmembers lead Carmel-by-the-Sea’s annual tree lighting at 6PM on Friday, 12/7 where locals convene at Devendorf Park for music, live entertainment, and photos with Santa. We recently walked Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey, which is currently decorated with lights and frequented by Carolers. “Ice Skating by the Bay” is also a blast; cruise by Custom House Plaza between 11AM-10PM for skating and hot chocolate (open 7 days/week until 1/6/19). With 5 new sales (3 in Carmel and 2 in Pebble Beach) and 3 closed escrows (1 in Carmel, 2 in Pebble), the market had a quieter week as is typical during this time of season. We hope you have a great weekend and enjoy some of the local festivities. As always, a few highlights from the week below:

The 2 closings in Pebble this week consisted of a dated French Country style home on almost an acre located within a close proximity to Spanish Bay (sale price: $2.1M, 12.3% off list price, DOM = 76) and a remodeled Rancher near MPCC on the market for 1 week (sale price: $1.349M, $500 off list price). The top new sale this week was a Spanish inspired estate on 1.6 acres with sweeping ocean views of Point Lobos and Stillwater Cove (list price: $7.495M, DOM = 76). A dated Tudor style home near the SFB Morse Botanical Reserve also went into contract – it had previously fallen out of escrow and was relisted for 66 days with an ask price of $1.499M.

A 1920’s-built Mediterranean compound on a 10K sq. ft. lot on prized Carmelo Street sold this week at full ask ($6.795M) after just 2 days on the market. One of the new sales in Carmel was a vintage cottage in NW Carmel with additional water credits (list price: $1.995M, DOM = 2). The remaining new sales were both on Atherton Drive in Hatton Fields: a partially updated fixer circa 1950’s with plenty of Southern exposure (list price: $1.195M, DOM = 23) and a similar product type, in need of TLC, listed for $1M (DOM = 97).

There was no activity to report this week in Quail, the Preserve, or Carmel Highlands.
